There's a lot of good restaurants out there but few where you can actually taste the love. If you've ever tried to make gumbo, try it here and you'll wonder how you could ever achieve what they're putting out. Topped with one of their house made hot sauces for the perfect amount of heat. After having just been to a place with "biscuit" in their name, I've never had a better biscuit than at Junebaby. No wonder I've never been a huge biscuit fan until now. They're like moist freakin' cake. The upbeat music adds to the vibe. It really is "food with roots".

It had been many years since I tried Junebaby and we thought we would give them a try again. We were not disappointed! We ordered the biscuits and pimento cheese as appetizers. The biscuits were just as I remembered. Flaky but not airy -- they are still the best biscuits I have ever had. The pimento cheese was excellent. My wife got shrimp and grits and I had the BBQ plate specials. My wife enjoyed the shrimp and grits so much I never got to taste them! The BBQ plate was phenomenal. It had four different types of meat -- briscuit, ribs, pulled pork and sausage. I enjoyed them all but the briscut to me was the star of the show. The drinks were good and the service was on point. We were so full we did not try the desserts. They are now on Open Table and getting in does not appear to be as difficult as it used to -- but the food and experience are as great as it was a few years ago. Overall, a fantastic experience.

Three words: Holy Fried Chicken. If you come to JuneBaby any day of the week, come on a Sunday and get their nightly special. The BBQ plate is also great, but the chicken will always have a special place for me. The Mac & cheese and Gumbo are both good as well. But the other star for me will be the Crispy Pig Ears. The seasoning was perfect and I still dream about it even months later.

Food here is great - DO NOT SLEEP ON THE BISCUITS! The biscuits are damn good, I could just eat these all night and be happy. Would have loved to try the cornbread too, but it's hard to pass on the biscuits. Nashville chicken bites ($16) - these were tasty, though some pieces were a bit on the gritty side (maybe it's the cornmeal coating? Had a couple of extra crunchy ones). The pickles really complete the dish and wish they had a couple extra slices of pickles. Popcorn was a bit on the stale side, not crunchy. Smoked carrots ($15) - comes with a bit of collard greens which were really tasty and I wanted more of. Decent amount of carrots, they definitely have a smoky flavor. The sauce is very creamy with a good tang. BBQ Plate - Saturdays only ($38) - this weeks plate had a button mushroom and garlic cous cous, hot link, brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and pickles. The brisket was super fatty and tender. Hot link was probably my favorite bite. The ribs were good as well. Pulled pork was my least favorite but I was also stuffed. The bbq sauce they serve it with has a nice heat to it. Chocolate Tres Leches cake ($13) - tres leches cake that is soaked in rum milk and drizzled with white chocolate. Super decadent and surprisingly boozy. Toasted coconut ice cream ($5) - lots of toasted coconut in here so some nice bits to chew on. Paired very well with the tres leches cake. Smothered Fires ($15) - really nice and clean mezcal cocktail. If you like mezcal, highly recommend Overall - we had a great time, sat at the bar with a view of the kitchen so it was fun to see all the dishes come out. The people working here seemed to be enjoying themselves as well and had good recommendations. The prices are a bit on the higher side, but the food was tasty and experience was fun and they play good music. We ordered a couple glasses of wine - their wine pours are average and not particularly generous :)
